As I’ve been listening to different casts like the halo council, the real mlg voice and others over the last few days, I’ve heard lots of discussion about bloom/no bloom, sprint/no sprint and I agree the game is much better on the newer settings, I’ve actually gone on a few times to play reach, which I never really liked from the get go.
My biggest issue playing reach bloom or not has only made somewhat of a difference to me, my biggest issue was the fact that the flash is gone. Without a 4 shot, with the fact that it just took so much more to kill people, you just don’t see as many big plays. The DMR is just not as good being a single shot, it allows people more time to react to get away, with or without sprint. For example, on pit in halo 3 if somebody peaked out just a half step to far they were dead in the blink of an eye, but on reach the extra shot just allows running room.
Something else I feel has taken away from the game is medals. In other games medals were not a given on any game, but now you get one for avenging your death, or running away and living, or an assist. Pretty much anything, they’re just thrown at you. Over and over again, they lost there meaning. I want to see those little emblems come up because I actually worked to get them, not just cause I’m playing the game.
With all that being said, I think that zero bloom/no sprint is a step in the right direction, and probably the closest were going to get to put the halo back into reach. Here’s hoping that 343 Industries gives us the loved BR back, and makes halo, halo again.
